Young directors: Opening Shot

ABC TV Documentaries and Screen Australia’s fourth series of Opening Shot is back again for 2015 and looking for potential stories.

This half hour prime time slot gives documentary filmmakers under 35 years of age the opportunity to get involved in national discourse, presenting Australian stories from Australian perspectives.

What would you say about Australia today?

Some past Opening Shot films include Gaycrashers, which follows gay comedians Joel Creasey and Rhys Nicholson as they return to a rural Victorian town a few years after the town was involved in a homophobic scandal; Defendant 5, the personal story of a filmmaker’s shocking journey fighting for what she believes in; and, The Agony of Ecstasy, a 28-year-old’s investigation of how her former drug-use is affecting her mental health.

All the best!
